One of the obligatory photographs you have to take when having a tourist day around Durham is of the Sanctuary Knocker at Durham Cathedral. You can read all about its history over at the Durham World Heritage Site website, where you can also see the Sanctuary Knocker in its natural colours, rather than this edited image that I took on Saturday! It is a fascinating piece of sculpture/casting – but unfortunately I didn’t have too much time to stand and stare and take all the intricacies of this replica knocker in, as obviously the entrance to Durham Cathedral, upon which door it is situated, is pretty busy. Imagine the stories behind all those people who requested sanctuary over the years. You can read a lot more about the process of sanctuary at Durham Cathedral over in this very informative article I found over at Shortfinal’s blog.
As always, this week’s colour inspiration swatch can be downloaded for free and used in your Adobe CC programs over at Adobe Color CC. Enjoy!
