Happy New Year! I hope you had a peaceful festive season, and are all rested and ready to go into 2018!
For some years now I’ve been doing stick weaving, which is a very simple and portable form of weaving, and can create fabric for all kinds of applications. This is a recent finished handbag project that was created using stick woven fabric. The yarn was also hand spun by myself, I used a sturdy Lopi roving for the yarn.
For Christmas, my lovely boyfriend got me a peg loom, which means I can now expand my stick weaving into much larger projects which can be woven up a lot quicker. On the peg loom in the swatch picture at the top of this post you will see the fabric forming for a new handbag. I’ll keep you updated as to how it progresses. [Update: watch a video on the finished peg loom woven bag here!]
I would love to put together another workshop on stick weaving, so if you are interested in learning this simple but very effective form of weaving, please leave a message in the comments below and if enough people are interested, I will get something organised!
As usual, the colour swatch can be found over at Adobe Color CC for use in your Adobe programmes. Have fun!
