Progress report: Work on my Celtic knotwork colouring book begins!

with 2 Comments

I thought I would document the process of self-publishing my Celtic knotwork colouring book, as it will be a good record of what I have done, and will hopefully give others a few hints on how to self-publish (or not!). I have already self-published one book, ‘Graphiti – Creative Moments for You‘, along with creative writer, Rachel Cochrane, and it’s a long process! If I remember rightly, that was probably about 6-9 months in the making before it was published and ready to go!

If you’ve been following the blog, then you will know that I intend to make the book from the 31 Celtic knotwork illustrations I created during #inktober2017. I’m also going to add some Celtic knotwork illustrations that I’ve ceated in the past, plus some brand new ones just for this book.

The first stage is to lay out all the images I have so far into full page designs using Adobe InDesign. You’ll see from the video below that some pages have space in them – once everything has been laid out, my next step will be to print all of these particular pages out and then work on new Celtic knotwork illustrations that will fill in those spaces. I’m aiming for 50 full colouring pages in total.

So, you can see that there’s a long way to go yet, so I very much doubt that it will be out until spring 2018!

I will be needing a few volunteers to test colouring out the pages and give me honest feedback, so if you would be interested in doing this, please leave a comment on this blog post.

Back to the layout!
