This week and last week I showed my students how to create hand-marbled papers and then how to make them into hand-bound books. A few students had some paper beads left over from an earlier class too, and added those to their books.
The books are made from long narrow pieces of thick paper, which were decorated and then folded into a gatefold, with a centimetre overlap in the middle. The overlap creates a reinforced spine, through which three signatures of paper were sewn. Very simple but effective. Everyone made such beautiful books, well done ladies!
